DOCUMENTATION ACTIVITY

The Documentation Centre of Zmaj Children Games represents an archive in which archival materials and documentation related to artistic creation intended for children and young people, as well as the activities of the Zmaj Children Games are collected, processed, researched, valorised, and published, from its foundation in 1957 until today. The sector has developed in parallel with the work of the publishing house, so its collections, formed in the late 1950s, have been actively developing for almost seven decades. They contain unique elements, documentation materials, an archival base, and other significant elements of various artistic collections related to literature and beyond, art for children and youth, and cultural studies. The Documentation Centre includes collections of visual and applied arts, literary artefacts of domestic and foreign authors, program, photo, video, press, and manuscript documentation. By making parts of this material available for scientific research purposes, the Zmaj Children Games provide significant and unique information and data about literature and other creative areas for the younger population.

The Documentation Centre is developing cooperation with related departments, organizations, and institutions, and agreements on intersectoral support and exchange are realized with the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Novi Sad, the Teacher Education Faculty at the University of Belgrade, the Preschool Teacher Training College in Novi Sad, associations, cultural centres, societies, national unions and councils.

The Zmaj Children Games Library has a comprehensive collection of books in the field of literature for children and youth, essays, criticisms, the theory and history of literature for children, of which a large part consists of authors’ gift copies. The library is regularly renewed, the collection is enlarged and is available free of charge to readers of all ages, as well as to the expert public for scientific research purposes.
